"We the People!"
Remember, "We" are the basis of American politics and society!
Believe in your own power to make change!
Don't let media, violence and a sense of powerlessness define you!
"A government of the people, by the people, for the people"!
But ask yourself:
Are YOU a responsible citizen?
Are YOU setting an example for your family, your community, your nation and the world?
We the People are responsible (with our vote, our support) for the "Mess in Washington"!
We the People are responsible for the "mess" in OUR schools!
We- each of us- are responsible for the mess in our families!
WE THE PEOPLE have not been responsible, and the result is appalling and obvious: From political violence and gridlock in Washington and in state legislatures nationwide. A "digital" and totally discreet wedge has been driven through the heart of America's unified sense of goodness: separating "us from them" (digital means discreet, now every bloc of voters has "our" media...to combat "theirs."
No politician compromises now. It's "our" way or the highway.
The masses have been conditioned by unconstitutional laws relating to "U.S. Security" to sit passively by as daily acts of insane violence grow more severe. Unbridled economic pressures (caused primarily by a collapsing global military empire that has bankrupted America, while insinuating itself into every Congressional district, just as President Eisenhower warned in the first draft of his 1961 "Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex" speech.
The collapse of Cold War spending as the basis of the American middle class success has displaced millions of workers and forced "zero tolerance" education systems on the nation. Today, education dedicated to "the system"- not to the education of tomorrow's leadership. The nation's schools now train children to be "tomorrow's model prisoners" in the words of an award-winning Arizona principal I met one day in Flagstaff. She described a recent visit to a day care center, where children are prohibited from talking or touching in the hallways. It reminded me of people who "only watch Fox" or "only watch MSNBC" ...and hate "them."
The result of this social polarization and corporate-survival primacy:
America is now a nation of increasing ignorance, hate and a useless "Party First" political "values", funded by special interest money. "Washington" and now state legislatures and even local communities all seem to recoil from one"crisis" after another (all while advancing polarizing agendas that, themselves, are self-reinforcing at the express cost to social cohesion).
This increasing domestic dysfunction even spawned a Presidential candidate who carelessly spouted a polarized view of the other "47%" (as though virtually half of the people aren't worth reaching out to in an election because "they" control "them").
The destructive effect of a polarized American society, at the employment mercy of an increasingly militarized foreign policy that supports the narrow objectives of a politicized "Military-Industrial-Congressional" complex... spreads unbridled destruction into the world with arms exports (that exceed those of the next 10 nations combined).
What kind of "U.S. national security" looks forward to a world of 10 billion...and ignorantly, fearfully treats them as "threats"- instead of peaceful consumers of American goods and services? As it is now, the U.S. is exporting death, destruction and climate change- even as it's the most generous nation on Earth with foreign aid (aid which the increasingly ignorant domestic population expresses selfish desire to end, so that thing like a "Great Wall of America" can be built along the Mexican and Canadian borders.
A wise man in the Nixon Administration once said, "Things that cannot go on forever, don't."
"We the People" must vote with our hearts (not emotionally like "liberal idiots", but thoughtfully as SURVIVING members of a human-centric, responsible and conscious society) In every decision we make:
From how we manage our households,
To how we create examples for our children,
To how we express our citizenship, in order to ensure that our Constitutionally-based governance survives.
The alternative is an elite form of "zero tolerance" governance that President Eisenhower warned in 1961 could easily be fascist.
